Pop Art
These videos should give you a good understanding of Pop Art.
Write notes in your DWB (bullet points and personal comments to show your understanding)

Now you can have a look at this site

Landscape Painting
Watch the following videos and write notes describing the steps the artists followed.

Now look for examples which ar demonstrating elements which apply to you. For example if you are painting mountains find some which are painting mountains. That way you can see how the techniques are applied. If you are painting clouds search "painting clouds in acrylics" on You Tube. Write notes about what you discovered.

Examples of interesting journals.

A major part of your assessment is to produce a Developmental Workbook (DWB) which reflects your understanding of art and design including research, experiments, ideas, sketches and personal reflections. Evidence of criteria A,B,C and D will be in your books. You should take great pride with these books. You will work on them at home and in class. DO NOT FORGET YOUR BOOK.

Your workbook will be a combination of a journal, research book and a sketchbook presented in a "visually interesting way”. It will be checked at the beginning of every week.

This book is a brilliant opportunity to practise as a “REAL” artist.

Surrealism Powerpoint

This is the video (with the sound) that we watched. Amazing works of Jim Warren.

HOMEWORK-18/8/2011

Research Surrealism, list some questions you'd like to find the answers to.
For example How did Surrealism begin?
What, where, how, who, when are all good question prompts.

Write your answers into bullet points then turn your bulet points into a paragraph.
write your good copy of the paragraph in an interesting way in your sketch book.
This is due Friday/Monday (depending when you have your class)

THEN you need to illustrate your paragraph over two pages using drawings of Surreal paintings and printouts of paintings. (like a collage) This is due next Tues/Wed (depending when you have your class)

To learn more about Surrealism and to get some amazing ideas try typing: "Surrealism", "Salvador Dali", "Magritte" into You Tube.
Here are some great examples:

So now you have your incredible ideas, it is time to tone your hand. How do you tone?
This is what we will be doing in class:

Here are a couple of other inspiring videos:

This is a toned surreal landscape using pencil, charcoal, smudge sticks, erasers, graphite just might be something that interests you.
