Your First Task You are a famous artist who has been commissioned to produce a life-size expressive self-portrait.
Your client is Virgin Music, a reputable music store in Australia. They would like the painting to be on display next to the main entrance of the shop. It will be the first thing their customers will see when they enter the store. Virgin believes that art can effect how people feel just the same way as music does. Mood and character can be developed through the use of posture, colour, brushwork, tone and a variety of media. Virgin Music requires the completed artwork with a reflection by Week 6, Sept 16th.

Something to keep in mind is the way you use colour as it is crucial to how artists express themselves. Have a look at Frank Curkovic's excellent slide show about colour.
You have also been asked to compare TWO different portrait artists. Consider their style, goals, materials, techniques. This sheet will provide you with some guidelines. You will then present your collated information to the class through your choice of media and technology. You can create a Voicethread, slideshow, imovie, Glogster poster. Use a program you are familiar with or enjoy the challenge of "playing" with something new.
